Welcome
Thanks for taking the time to visit my site; I’d like to share my journey to this point as it wasn’t one I really planned. I didn’t started playing the game until 11 years old when some courts were built in my village and then spent those following years playing mainly doubles, with my dad to start with until stepping out of the village club to play Yorkshire league for Scarborough. I think my playing career peaked when I finally played for a County in represent Northumberland Over 35’s!
I studied Sports Development at University and that’s when my coaching career started as well. I now have 35 years’ experience as a Level 5 LTA Accredited plus coach and have been fortunate to meet some great people on the way that I have learnt from and asked questions to and this has led me to where I am now. Previous roles have included being a Local Authority Sports Development Officer in Scarborough, a LTA County Development Manager in Northumberland, a Racquets Manager for Virgin Active first in Sunderland and then Northwood in London. My path then took me to Loughborough University as their Coach Development Manager and after the project had finished there onto inspire2coach as their Education Manager heading up an LTA Coach Development Centre operating across the majority of the Midlands.
From my initial involvement with the LTA I have moved along the continuum to being an LTA Coach Education Tutor and have now delivered and assessed a large number coach education qualifications and courses at levels 1 (Assistant) 2 (Instructor) and 3 (Coach) along with the Primary & Secondary School Teachers courses. I’m also one of only 8 National Assessors who assess all the new qualifications. I deliver the LTA Safeguarding workshop and recently qualified to assess Mental Health First Aid as well. I’ve also been lucky enough to have been asked to be part of the team that has reshaped and rewritten the new LTA qualifications pathway and more recently the LTA University Activators which will be launched in 2024.
On another front I’ve always loved a challenge and have completed 5 Ironman triathlons (3800m swim, 180km bike & a 42km run ( a marathon whilst doing everything above, which shows with the right mindset and commitment you can achieve anything you want!
